Salmon in the Classroom

The 5th and 6th grade students have been raising Salmon in the classroom since November.  The Salmon were donated by the DNR and were collected from the Platte River Fish Hatchery in Beulah, MI.  The Salmon will go through 5 stages of development

1. Green Eggs
2. Eyed Eggs
3. Sac Fry
4. Swim-up Fry
5. Smolt

Shorty after the salmon reach the smolt stage, the sixth grade students will release the fish at camp.  We will release the salmon in the Jordan River, which is in Antrim County.  This is a great educational experience for the kids.
