Welcome Back

We are pleased to announce the return of Michael Pung as our Interim Superintendent while the search for a new superintendent is underway. Mr. Pung previously served in this role and brings valuable experience, steady leadership, and a strong connection to our school community.

Mike is a 1972 Beal City Public Schools graduate and received his Bachelor's and Master of Science degrees from Ferris State University. Mike was hired by Mt. Pleasant Public Schools in 1995 as their Associate High School Principal and the Career Technical Education Director. He was then named the Superintendent of Mt. Pleasant Public Schools in July of 2011. After he retired from Mt. Pleasant, he was employed with the Wolgast Corporation until August 2020.

Mike and his wife, Loretta, have been married for 52 years. They have three children: Tracy, Kimberly, and Michael. They also have 8 grandchildren: Zachary, Gabe, Ben, Breanna, Madisyn, Cameron, Michael, and Brooklynne.

Mike enjoys playing music, camping, boating, and spending time with his family. He also enjoys following his grandchildren's sporting and school events. Mike has traveled to Japan, Germany, and Hawaii and has traveled to many of the continental states. By far, his favorite place to visit is Hawaii.

We are grateful for Mike's continued commitment and support to our students, staff, and families during this time of transition.

Please join us in giving a warm welcome back!
