Beal City Superintendent's Office
William Chilman IV - Superintendent
William C. Chilman IV is our superintendent of schools. Mr. Chilman was approved by the Beal City Public Schools Board of Education at a special school board meeting on Thursday, August 2, 2007 at 7:00a.m. with a 7-0 vote of the board. Bill joined us after he spent the first four years of his career in Brimley Area Public Schools as a health/PE and science teacher and the district’s athletic director, and the next ten years of his career as the Meridian Junior High School principal in Meridian Public Schools in Sanford, Michigan.
Mr. Chilman grew up and attended high school in Gladwin. From there Bill received his bachelor’s degree in education from CMU and his master’s degree in educational administration from NMU. Bill has now completed his educational specialist’s degree in educational leadership from CMU and will begin working on his doctorate degree in the near future.
Mr. Chilman’s focus as the superintendent of Beal City Public Schools will be to continue to improve the excellence that Beal City has shown over the years academically, artistically, and athletically. Bill believes the three most important jobs a superintendent has are to, first and foremost, improve student achievement. Secondly, during these financially difficult times maintain the district’s fiscal integrity. Third, but not least of all, promote the school district and provide positive school and community relations throughout the Mid-Michigan area.
Bill is a fan of a wide variety of sports and enjoys landscaping and spending time with his wife, Tami and their sons, Billy and Logan. The Chilmans love taking advantage of Michigan’s beauty by partaking in all kinds of outdoor activities, especially summer water sports and winter snowmobiling at their cottage in Lake City. Tami has been quite active in the boys’ education and volunteering at school and church. Tami has returned to work full-time in the business world as an accountant for Boge, Wybenga, and Bradley PC.
Rod Freeze - Business Manager
My name is Rod Freeze and I am the Business Manager at Beal City Public Schools. I graduated from Beal City in 1987. I went to CMU for a couple years full time, then got married to my high school sweetheart Julie a 1985 graduate of Beal City. We have two great kids Samantha and Nick. Samantha will be graduating from Saginaw Valley State University with a major in accounting in December 2016 and plans to take the CPA exam. Nick will graduate from Beal City in 2018 and has many opportunities open to him. Julie and I have been very active in the Beal City community since we graduated from Beal and I look forward to expanding my level of involvement. One of the activities I have been involved in is the Beal City Education Foundation. I have been on the board since it began in 2009 and we are making great strides in reaching the goals of the Foundation.
I enjoy spending time with my family and friends doing things like; camping, fishing, hunting, playing cards and watching the kids in school and local events and most of all, watching the kids grow up and become responsible, respectful individuals. Nick is very active in band, drama, youth in government, cross country, track, Spanish club, National Honor Society, church and loves playing his guitar and singing. Samantha played volleyball and softball in high school and was very active in National Honor Society, Spanish club, Student Council and other activities. She has also become very involved at SVSU with the sorority KTE doing many philanthropic activities in the Saginaw area.
I believe Beal City was a great place to go to school for myself and it has also been a great place for our children to go to school. We are a small school with huge opportunities for all. I look forward to many years of continuing the great traditions that are in place at Beal City and being involved in starting new ones. Go Aggies!
