Mission Statement & Purpose
FUND'S NAME
Beal City Public Schools Educational Foundation Fund
ABOUT THE FOUNDATION
The Beal City Education Foundation, an affiliate of the Mt. Pleasant Area Community Foundation, was established in 2009 to provide enhanced educational opportunities, improved curricular and extra-curricular programming, and scholarships for our graduating seniors by attracting private funds through donations, endowments, and memorials. The foundation can provide support for the development of enrichment programs and services for a broader and more refined education for our young people.
MISSION /PURPOSE
To support the Beal City Public School District in its mission of educating the children of the Beal City community as stated in the District’s Mission Statement; “Beal City Schools in harmony with the home and community, will educate our children in a positive learning environment that meets the needs and goals in order that all students successfully function in an ever changing global society”
HOW THE FOUNDATION WORKS
Gifts will provide funds for scholarships, purchases and enrichment opportunities above and beyond the normal school district operating budget. Contributions will be placed in a special account administered by the foundation's board of trustees through the Mt. Pleasant Area Community Foundation The board has established long and short term goals that will allow financial support for the enrichment of current programs and long term growth of foundation assets.
CHAIN OF COMMAND / STRUCTURE
The Board of Education is the legal entity of Beal City Public Schools. The Superintendent is the appointed legal agent for the Beal City Public Schools and reports directly to the Board of Education. The Beal City Public School Education Foundation Advisory committee is an appointed committee of school personnel and community members who will make recommendation through the Superintendent to the Board of Education. The committee will consist of one standing School Board member, the Superintendent, the Grants Coordinator, a Teacher leader, and at least six community members.
TEN YEAR PLAN
The Beal City Public Schools Education Foundation ( The Fund) must meet the goal of $10,000 in it’s account at the Mt. Pleasant Area Community Foundation (The Foundation) within ten years. Once the Fund reaches $10,000 it will being giving out 5% of its total value annually in grants to the School District in its efforts to meet it’s mission. To reach that goal the Beal City Board of Education will appoint a Beal City Public School Education Foundation Fund Advisory committee made up of school personnel and community members who will report to the Board of Education. This Advisory committee will educate the community on the purpose of the foundation and it’s value to the community and school, as well as what it means for the community and school in the future. The advisory committee will then educate the community on how to make tax exempt donations to the fund and on the concepts of planned giving and estate planning. The last thing the committee will do is seek out donations around the greater Mt. Pleasant area, fundraise at school and locally in the community and continue to spread the word about the foundation and its works.
