Student Data and Email

Hi Seniors,

Congratulations!  I know you're excited to get out of here and get on with your lives, but there are a couple of things you should do before heading out.  This won't take long!  We need to make sure that you get a copy of your file server data and your Google stuff to take with you.  Most of it you will never want to look at again, but it's easy to grab a copy and it's better safe than sorry.  YOUR STUFF *WILL BE DELETED* FROM OUR FILE SERVER OVER THE SUMMER!!!!  So -- two things to do:

  1. Get a copy of everything in your school F: drive (aka \\bcsfp2.bealcityschools.net\Home$\Student\Username.etc in the My Computer window).  Just sit down at any computer in the building, log in with your own account,  insert a USB drive with a gig or two of available space, hold down the Windows key on the keyboard and hit the E key to bring up the File Explorer.  Then click on "This PC" on the left side, then double-click your F: drive.  Hold down the Ctrl key and hit the A key for "select all".  Now hit Ctrl and C for "copy".  Go to your USB drive, create a new folder called "School Stuff" or whatever.  Enter that folder and hit Ctrl and V for "paste".  Wait for the progress indicator to indicate that you're done, then close all windows, eject your USB drive and you're good.
  2. Transfer your school Gmail and Drive data to another, personal account.  If you want to do this you should first create your own Gmail account if you don't already have one.  You can do that here:  https://accounts.google.com/SignUp?service=mail&continue=https%3A%2F%2Fmail.google.com%2Fmail%2F&ltmpl=default  Once you have a personal account to transfer to, follow the directions here:  https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/6386856.  Here's the link to Google Takeout, which is what's used to do the actual transfer:  https://takeout.google.com/transfer.  If you're more of a visual learner I've created a video on the process here:  https://youtu.be/5dbkJTynNFw.

Let me know if you need any help!
