FOOD FOR THOUGHT
News From The Aggie Cafe:
The cafeteria will hold their annual "Food For Thought" meeting on Wednesday, February 15, 2:00 - 2:45 p.m. in the cafeteria. Any parents/guardians or community members with comments, suggestions, concerns or compliments are invited to attend. We also encourage parents/community members to join us anytime for lunch! Remember, adult lunches are $2.75 and milk is $0.50. Cash is accepted at the cashier station for anyone visiting, volunteering or subbing. The new Power School System gives the cafeteria staff the ability to e-mail parents when students are out of money. We have already started to use this and have received positive comments from parents. If you are interested and think we do not have your e-mail address, you may e-mail Marci at mafaber@edzone.net.
NED SHOW
The NED Show is coming to Mayes Elementary! The NED stands for: Never Give Up - Encourage Others - Do Your Best The NED Show's mission is to promote academic achievement through character development. Their belief is that students can accomplish amazing things if given positive motivation and specific directions leading to success. The NED Show will partner with Mayes Elementary to: Improve Student Behavior, Enrich Instructional Time, Increase Academic Achievement, Compliment Existing School Themes and Enhance Motivational Climate at School. This 45-minute high energy, motivational assembly relays its message through story-telling, humor, visuals and audience participation. By the end of the assembly, students will KNOW that there is a Champion inside us ALL. Parents who would like more information pertaining to this assembly may go to the website at www.thenedshow.com.
PROGRESS REPORTS
The cut-off date for Progress Report grades is Friday, February 24. Students that receive progress reports will be bringing them home in their Student Planners on Tuesday, February 28. If you do not receive a Progress Report and would like to talk to your child's teacher, you should include a written request in your child's planner.
GIRL'S ON THE RUN
REMINDER: Registration for "Girls On The Run" 2012 will take place on Monday, January 30 at St Joseph School in the Library, 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. All girls in grades 3rd - 8th should have received an information sheet last week. If your child did not receive one, please contact the elementary office and another one will be sent home. You may also go to the website at www.gotrcentralmichigan.org.
CAMP UPDATE
Our 4th - 6th graders will be going to camp during the week of May 7 - 11. Camp packets will be sent home April 9. Please note these dates on your home calendars.
SPRING PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES
Spring Parent/Teacher Conferences will take place Thursday, March 1, 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Since it is impossible for teachers to conference with all parents in that amount of time, we schedule conferences based on parent and/or teacher request. Please notify the office or your child's teacher ASAP if you would like a conference appointment time. There may or may not be open slots for walk-ins (depending on the number of requested conferences). If you can't be worked into any of the March 1 conference times, please contact your child's teacher to set up a different time/date (possibly before or after school or during their prep times).
BUS PASS REMINDER
Please remember that if your child is riding a different bus OR riding the same bus to a different location, he/she MUST have a bus pass approved THREE days in advance. Some of our busses are already carrying the maximum number of passengers allowed, so it may not be an option to send additional students on those busses. If you have any questions, you may call Mr. Graham at 644-3901.
