On Saturday, January 30, 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. , our local council of the Knights of Columbus will be sponsoring their annual basketball Free Throw Contest. It will be held at Beal City Schools in the elementary gym. All boys and girls, ages 10 to 14 are welcome to participate. For more information you may contact Abe Pasch at 506-3308.
READING RAINBOW
Reading Rainbow is back! With funding from our PTO and CMU's Public Broadcast System, we are able to offer two evenings of family fun (February 10 and March 24). The evenings are kicked off with a light dinner at 5:30 p.m. followed by book sharing/crafts from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. All activities take place in the school cafeteria. All Beal City public and private school families are invited.
FEBRUARY COUNT
The second state aid count day is Wednesday, February. 10. It is important to have all students in attendance on that day. As we all know, every penny counts and schools especially need to be able to collect any money they have allotted to them. Let's see if we can get 100% attendance on February 10!
UPCOMING DAYS OFF
On Friday, February 12, students will have a half day of school with dismissal at 11:40 a.m. and no lunch being served. The teachers will be involved in professional development in the afternoon. The following Monday (February 15) school will not be in session in honor of President's Day.
KINDERGARTEN PARENT MEETING
An informational parent meeting for NEW Kindergarten students for the 2010-2011 school year will take place on Tuesday, March 16, 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. in the school cafeteria. Parents of our existing preschoolers DO NOT NEED TO ATTEND (if we need any additional paperwork from you we will let you know).
VALENTINE'S DAY PARTIES
Valentine's Day parties will take place either Thursday, February 11 or Friday, February 12. Teachers will notify parents which day applies to your child. If you have any questions on parties, please contact the teachers directly.
"SPRING" PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES
Spring conferences will be held on Thursday, March 4, 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. Teachers do not have enough time to see all the students in their classrooms during Spring Conferences, so these conferences are based on parent/teacher recommendations. The office does not schedule specific appointment times. Parents are asked to call the school if they would like to pre-arrange a ten-minute conference. Teachers will be in their classrooms for the whole three hour block. It would be best to schedule appointments within the first hour (5:00 - 6:00), so teachers would be available for drop-ins between 6:00 and 8:00 p.m. Please call the office at 644-2740 to schedule an appointment or for more information.
