Scheduling Changes Ahead for 2008-2009

Dear Parents:

The staff and administration of Beal City High School with approval from the District School Improvement Team and Board of Education have established a new daily class schedule. The new schedule will go into effect beginning with the 2008 – 2009 school year. We will be moving from a 4 x 4 Block schedule to a more traditional 7 – period schedule. The high school and junior high schedule will align. We believe that such a schedule can and will be a positive influence in our school, and for our students.

Clearly, Beal City High School is not the same school many of you attended years ago. We are making adjustments, as most schools have to do, in order to meet the demands of the newly implemented Michigan Merit Curriculum and continuing mandates of No Child Left Behind. Beal City High School must meet the educational needs of the students we serve. Therefore, many different scheduling options were explored over the past few years. After countless hours of research the staff and administration felt the 7 – Period scheduling option would be the best fit for our needs at Beal City High School.

We will be providing informational parent meetings before the start of the 2008 – 2009 school year. The meeting dates are scheduled for July 29th & August 5th beginning at 7:00p.m. in the school cafeteria. The meetings will also provide the opportunity for parents to ask questions in regards to their children and scheduling opportunities.

Through a collaborative effort we will make this transition as smooth as possible for all stakeholders involved. We look forward to meeting with parents to make sure the students of Beal City High School have access to the best possible educational opportunities. It is a pleasure to be part of such a great educational institution. Your continued support of Beal City Schools is greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Jeffrey M. Jackson
